Bottle: Almost black, slowly diminishing creamy tanned head; moderate sweet-bitter toasty-roasty nose with slight fruity notes and a molecular caramelly sweetness; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, relatively light bodied, a bit fizzy; slightly lingering bitter-toasty and a bit caramelly finish. A session Baltic…

At a tasting, thanks, small mocha bubbly head, dark brown color, aroma of wood and pncil sharpnings with yoasted bread straw and maybe coffee, metal and coffee flavor with light piney notes. Fair and drinkable.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with huge, frothy, fairly lasting and lacing, off-white to beige head. Roasty dark malty and fruity hoppy aroma, hints of liquorice and blueberry, earthy notes of corresponding shrubs, some spruce. Taste is roasty dark malty, piney hoppy overtones, a touch of spruce, some blueberry and corresponding shrubs, a diluted touch of liquorice; minimally watery.

Pours virtually black with a towering and foamy head that only slowly subsides. Aroma is blueberry, pine, brown sugar. Body is light to medium with average carbonation. Taste has mild roasted notes and trends both fruity and sweet but successfully avoids being cloying. Finish is mild with virtually no bitterness. Feels very much like a black IPA. Good, but there is not enough here to take this beer to the next level.

This is an excellent beer. Appearance is very dark with quite some head. Aroma is very hoppy, especially piney and herbal. Flavour is similar, very hoppy and quite fruity, some dark malts but more herbal and earthy noted from the hops. It’s a very nice beer, but it’s definitely not a Baltic porter. This fits the characteristics of a black IPA perfectly though, no idea why it’s not classified as one.

Dark brown with little brown head. Aroma is nuts, phenols, diapers, licorice. Taste is chocolate sweetness, some pepper, full bitter phenolic coffee. Also coffee in the finish. Very heavy and oily mouthfeel. Not my favourite.

330 ml bottle, bb 09.10.16
Dark brown body, with a massive, creamy, lacing, dark beige head.
Aroma of milk chocolate, berries, citrus, resin, some pine, some cocoa, some liquorice.
Tastes of cocoa, coffee, some liquorice, citrus, berries, some resin, subtle pine.
Medium, a bit creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes smooth, medium roasty, citric, piney, with chocolate, some berries, some coffee.

Very nice. A bit like a Black IPA, except that it is a bit easier, with a lot of fruity hop notes and smooth dark malts. I’m just missing some more of the typical roasty dryness, I like this style for. Overall not among my favourite style examples, while still a very good, characterful one.
