330ml bottle boughtas part of a delivery from Beers of Europe and drunk at home. Dark brown and slightly translucent with a small ring of beige head aroma of liquorice, hazelnut and the lightest note of balsamic vinegar. Taste starts sweet with an heavy note of molasses, followed by an intense astringent, ashy bitterness in the long finish. Slightly oily body, soft to medium carbonation. Okay.

26/6/2021. Bottle shared with Dan & ITFCfan at the Euro16 beer share. From Beers of Europe. Pours black with a small frothy beige head. Aroma of liquorice, dark chocolate, molasses, dried fruits, treacle and ash. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Moderate body, surprisingly watery texture, average carbonation. Pretty good but would have been better with more body.

500ml bottle conditioned; BB Nov 2021. Poured into a tall pint sleeve, from the brewery, so had their logo etc, on it. Soot black with a thin tanned head. Malty with a caramel leaning to both the nose and taste; some leather, liquorice with hints of coffee and chocolate. It's not rich, or slick (are Porters ever that viscous?) and doesn't feel like a 10% ABV beer body wise. Liked it, but it's body depth wasn't deep enough somehow.
