The smells of barbecue and sunscreen, the river rushes by, the warm grass under your feet, a picnic basket full of delicacies – summer pleasure is even more beautiful when it’s shared. For the perfect day outdoors with friends you need the perfect refreshment: Hofbräu Sommerzwickl. Chilled in the river, it refreshes twice as well. Lively, delicate full flavour with an easy hoppy finish.

Bottle, 8 months past BB date. Weak, slightly citric orange aroma. Very cloudy, dark orange colour. Stable head. Wheaty mouthfeel. Malty and refreshing citric flavour. The bitterness is above medium and uncompromising. Nice enough summer beer.

Test vom 17.7.2005 Noten: 13,13,11,11,9,12 - 11,80

(bottle) Cloudy orange to amber colour with a medium frothy slightly off-white head. Very fruity aroma of citrus (-peel) and yeast, complemented with a floral hoppiness and a touch of sourdough. Soft sweet malty flavour, medium bodied. Fruity and malty start with a smooth bitterdry finish. A nice seasonal Helles.

Bottle: Orange coloured, medium-sized off-white fluffy head, lasting, cloudy; fruity (citrus, grains) and yeasty nose with a tinge of herbal hoppiness and some bready notes; fizzy, but very smooth; starts sweet and fruity; light yeasty body, mild bitter-fruity aftertaste. O.K., quaffable; should not be mixed up with a Weizen, some qualities are similar........
