(Cask at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, London, 26 Nov 2014) Pale golden colour with creamy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, tropical fruit and grass. Fruity, hoppy taste with tropical fruit, grass, citrus, grapefruit and a good citric bitterness in the finish. Light body, quite dry. Fresh and tasty, with a generous hop presence. Nice one.

Cask (Nags Head, Reading) - Golden with a white head. Melon, pear and biscuity malt in the aroma. Melon, peach, pear and a hint of syrup all feature in the fruity, dry and moderately hoppy finish.

30th July 2014 Holborn Whippet. Cask. Clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth, light and semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Dusty soapy start. Hops are a bitterish orange and grapefruit citrus, pithy. Finishes dry with good hop bitterness. The return of Mallinsons soap! Back with a vengeance here and it ruins the beer. 2.1

Bottle this time. Light haze on this paleish gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Light soft malts, sweetish. So many taste descriptors out there for Calypso, but what is true. Plenty of bitterish citrus, orange and grapefruit, mostly peel. Subtler touches of supposed pear, apple, lychee and even banana are nigh on possible to pick up here, Mallinsons hop aggressiveness making it hard to decipher. Yeah some very light pear and green apple. Smooth finish. Long deep bitter linger. Better than the cask from years ago but why do Mallinsons like to be so rough edged?

Cask @ The Baum, Rochdale. Clear gold with a thick creamy head. The aroma holds the dominant part of the citrus and hop character, with the taste including a high bitterness factor.
