Brewed with English Maris Otter malted barley, and three varieties of English hops (Target, Goldings & Progress). Our aim was to create an easy drinking bitter inspired by many of the great brewers of the Black Country. It is amber in colour with complex earthy flavours. It slips down easily with a bag of pork scatchings, or a bowl of ‘Gray Pays’.
The name however pays tribute to one of my favourite German ‘Alt’ beers ‘Füchschen’. Literally translated füchschen means little fox. Alt beer from Düsseldorf is possibly one of the closest German beers to the English Bitter. Unlike most German beers it is brewed using top fermenting yeast just like our English ales.

Hand-pulled cask pint in the Pheasant, Wellington Shropshire: 5th Sep 2016. Clear golden pour, white head. A decent blend of light maltiness and bittering hops, liked the fact it had no citrus edge to it.
