Hand-pulled pint during the carol singing on 21st Dec 2013 in The Crown Inn, Oakengates. The name is a play on ’Halo’ as the O is above (and slightly behind) the Ale on the pumpclip. Guess the beers colour! Correct, it’s golden and the halo above is a thin white one. No noticeable Christmassy bits within the nose or taste, so not sure what Jim Preston is up too with this: dry and hop bitter throughout with both the hop bitterness and dryness getting stronger towards the end of each sip. Wish I’d read the pumpclip in more detail now, it might have mentioned which hops etc were used and if it was supposed to be spiced in some way. Anyway I enjoyed it even if I was expecting something more malty and richer.
