Black body, “svartkropp” in Swedish, is a physical entity in perfect balance and with infinite integrity. It is also the name of our premier stout. Its complex body is a balancing act with nine types of malt, including a peated Islay variety, muscovado sugar, and a combination of Chinook and Cascade hops. Like all our beers, Svartkropp is hand-made, bottle-conditioned and unfiltered to ensure the truest and most genuine flavour. This stout can be stored and matured for years. Once opened, serve in a snifter to fully enjoy your Modernist beer!

Bottle at Bishops Arms Östersund. A difficult one because the smell succeded at showing lots of sour notes. The taste was however just a bit light in flavour but gritty. Not the same sur as in the smell

Tasting @ Tim's. Pours dark brown, beige foam there leaving some lacing traces on the glass. Nose has smoky peat, liquorice and some vinious character. Taste has also peat, not too sweet, some ashes and light roast. Actually really well balanced and even hops are coming through with some citrus character. Good cocoa chocolate finish, lingering chocolate bitterness.

Bottle picked up from Systembolaget Stockholm - Söderhallarna, November 2016 consumed at home Sunday 4th December 2016 whilst making a Moussaka. Pours pitch black, shark eye black with a large frothy tan head. The Islay peated malt is thankfully a bit part player here, ok so you notice it, however it doesn’t run roughshod over the final product. A hard roastiness is the key theme here, there is no gushy smoothness and sweetness so reminiscent of the many big US Impy Stouts, it’s a tough number, not entirely sure whether I am one over by it yet. Dark bitter chocolate some swishy liquorice as well, a touch salty. It’s ok. A6 A4 T6 P4 Ov12 3.2

Svart med høyt brunt skum som ligger godt. Lukter havre, kaffe, nøtter, jord og mørk sjokolade. Middels pluss i fylde. Noe salt smak, brunt sukker, en del jordaktige smaker også. Nøtter, kakaopulver, havre og noe kaffebitter. Middels lang.

Bottle. Sweet coffee aroma, smoke, flowery hop aromatics, a bit too grandmotherly perfumed. Black, creamy dark brown head. Fruity hops, orange peel, milk coffee, burned, smoked notes, dark sugar, caramel. Medium body, a bit too sweet. Wood smoke retronasal. Too perfumed for my taste.

Bottle from a trade with sneakychi, many thanks! Black color wuh big beige head. Aroma is slightly peated, roasted malts with coffee, the hops are also noticeable, a bit fruity as well. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, lightly peated, warming bitter finish. Dry. Very good, and rich enough for the comparably low ABV for an Imperial Stout.

One of the best “smoked” beers I have tried for a long time. Not as one dimensional as most of the others. Well balanced and a fine complexity.
Black color with a nice thick beige head. Good intensity in the aroma. Full to medium body and a pleasant carbonation. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Creamy and mellow texture. Mild pleasant peated, chocolate, some roast, coffee and toffee. Nice!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Black with a light brown head. Nice aroma of roast, chocolate, some peat, coffee. Sweet and slightly sourish flavor with roast, chocolate, dark fruits, mild peat, a bit of coffee, and a bitter finish. Full-bodied. Very nice.
