Aroma is coconut, coconut fat, chocolate syrup, bounty, maple syrup, vanilla. Taste is balanced bittersweetness, with much vanilla and coconut in the finish. Chocolatey and smooth. Not bad.

Can. Mostly black, dark brown creamy head. Strong coconut aroma, cocoa, light fatty, blueberry jam. Medium full body, bounty, blueberry, vanilla, light smoke, good milk chocolate. Something for the sweet tooth, but pleasantly balance.

Cool can art, lovely dark colour and a fantastic head that lasted and lasted. The problem was the coconut, which tasted artificial, dominated all levels of flavour and really didn’t do it for me. It was like drinking a nice stout that someone has wrecked by mixing in some of those Quality Street coconut sweets that always get left until the end of the tin. And I really dislike those sweets. A worthwhile, but quite unpleasant experiment.

From a 330ml can on 14/6/2017. Pours a deep brown with a small head. The nose features a light waft of coconut and chocolate malt. Flavour wise, it’s very unusual and quite distinctive with masses of coconut and vanilla and lots of milk and dark chocolate, with a strong, dry, roasty, lingering bitterness finishing things off. Has a fullish body with moderate carbonation. Beautifully balanced, complex, and moreish. A fantastic coconutty delight, and one of best porters I’ve ever consumed.

Can shared in Hackney - big thanks to Daniel. Pours rich brown with a frothy, beige head. Rich dark mats in the aroma, some coconut, chocolate. Medium sweet flavour with notes of creamy cocoa, some dried berries, more coconut. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Finishwa with more oily coconut, moderate bitter ashy roast, chocolate, dried berries, raisins. Overall, nice depth while still very drinkable.

It seems like coconut is a trending ingredient at the moment in the brewing world so I decided to drink my can of: Brewdog Self-Assembly Pope 7%

Deep cola black with ruby highlights and a thick tan head. With the vanilla, coconut and cocoa added to this dark brew I almost thought it was barrel-aged or a Mexican sweet stout or something. Medium bodied the taste follows the aroma, coconut, sweet roasty dark malts, cocoa and wood. I gotta check if this is barrel or wood aged! Nope not barrel aged but the additives evoke a barrel incredibly well. Mind blown. Quite sweet but the coconut is tasty. A nice twist on a Porter.
