Draft 10 oz pour at Belmont Station. Decided to accidentally celebrate the two year anniversary of my first beer rating with a very beer busy evening in Portland. Rating from the notes. Christmas dessert, pours a near black with a foam ring head. Candy sweet aroma with some cinnamin. High carb, with some chocolate notes. Some vanilla, maybe hints of bourbon. Nice toastyness to it. Pretty good.

Sample at M’kReam’s 40th Birthday Party on 08/01/2015. Pours a reddish amber color with a medium light beige head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, nutmeg and dark fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of sweet brandy, malt figs and spices. The finish is sweet and mildly boozy with a spiced figgy aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Bottle at De Garde. Pours a dark mahogany color with a medium white head. A big sour spicy nose. The flavor is a bit odd, sour fruit, spicy core with cinnamon, sour cherry. The overall mix of spicy and sour is interesting with a fruity core. Good. Just odd.

500 ml 2014 bottle. Aroma has nice, light malt notes of toffee, chocolate and toasted bread with light roast notes. Moderate dark fruit notes with lots of figs with lighter raisin, cherry and berry notes. Light to medium light brandy notes. Pours a dark brown with a reddish hue and a large, thick, light mocha head that slowly recedes to a thin film that is thicker on the edges. Faint lacing and long legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with light toasted bread and medium toffee and dark caramel. Faint chocolate and roast. Moderate fruit notes with lots of fig and lighter raisin, prune and cherry. Finishes with a sweet brandy note. Medium light alcohol in the finish and medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and silky with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice beer that has an interesting sweetness without being cloying and thick. Lots of fruit and brandy notes with a nice malt backbone.
