Figgy Pudding is an English-style barleywine brewed with black strap molasses and a blend of English pale and specialty malts. Extended maturation in freshly-emptied brandy barrels and gentle spicing with Ceylon cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice infuses this complex sipper with warming holiday flavors.

On tap at Belmont Station Bier Cafe, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma is huge on prunes and dates, figs too I guess, and some brandy liqueur. Flavour brings out big prune and date notes, with loads of brandy liqueur and lots of booze. Very warming and boozy, dominated by huge dried fruit notes and alcohol. Solid stuff, but the alcohol overbears a bit too much. Still, very enjoyable slow sipper.

Bottle 750ml. corked.Murky matt medium to dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, figs, wood, light spicy. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, dark sweet malt, dark fruit - figs. Body is medium, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft. [20120920]

Bottle at yespr. Pours a hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a sweetish malty figs and caramel aroma with woody barrel hints. Sweetish malty woody dark fruit and figs flavor. Has a sweetish malty woody figs and dark fruit finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a hazy orangey brown with a lively and frothy beige head. Sweet dark overripe fruit in the nose with a sweet woody character, slightly spicy. Rich body, sweet almonds, caramel and molasses, overripe dark fruits and a subtle woody edge. No real bitterness but quite some alcohol heat. Delicious. 200912

750ml bottle pours a hazy, purple amber with some cloudy, white head. Nose is fruity, raisin, caramel, sugary. Flavor is sweet, bourbon, a little wood, raisins, caramel, coconut. Full bodied, boozy finish.

Bottle. Pours muddy brown with light brown head. Nose/taste of molasses, cinnamon, maple, caramel, figs, dark fruits, brandy barrel and oak. Nice complexity with the cinnamon not overpowering the palate but mixing well with the other flavors. The brandy barrel aging also works well with some distinct brandy notes in the finish. Medium body.
