Thin beige head left a spotty cover on a translucent light brown still body. Heavy malt, spiced & stewed fruit aroma. Medium bodied, soft with a thicker cloying back. Sweet, malt, syrup, jam, berry, tea & spiced fruit tastes. Probably fuller on cask

Bottle from The House of Bruar. Clear amber body with a thin off-white head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of honey and earth. Flavour of grain, caramel and apricot. Thin body with a slick mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Basic but tasty.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - deep golden, start of amber. Nice lacy head. Nose - toffee, biscuit. Taste - more toffee and biscuit. Light refreshment in the malt. Palate - creamy and medium bodied. Fairly clean on the finish, despiet the style. Overall - authentic 80 shilling but a bit stronger.
