Historically, Belgian farmers brewed their strongest beers in winter, to be coveted and celebrated at Christmastime. pFriem's Super Saison is also coveted, for its notes of pineapple, papaya, kiwi, and a flavor you'll celebrate, regardless of the occasion.

Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a hazy gold with small white head that lasts. The aroma is yeast, pure sugar, funk. Medium mouth, strong pure sugar, yeast, light dryness, boozy finish, very good.

Glowing hazy golden with a white head. Candied citrus, lemon, spice, yeast, slight banana, tropical fruits in the aroma. Medium body with a healthy portion of carbonation. Flavor is very candied tropical fruits, loads of spice, slightly vinous, earthy, wheat. Really impressed with this one.

Cloudy blond, thick head, smells like wit, with the yeast and coriander. Spicy hop, phenolic yeast...some alcohol late, a muscular creamy take on saison.

Tap at pFriem, Hood River, 24/05/13. Hazed pale yellow with a thin white head. Nose is tarte lemon, grass, herbal notes, bitter orange, spice, sweet notes. Taste comprises lemon rind, sugars, touch of booze, bitter orange, pinch of spice, grass, earthy, farmyard. Full in body with fine carbonation, a little on the cloying side. Ok stuff, the booze is well integrated for 9% but leaves a slightly warming finish - not what I want from a saison. Drinkable but saison US’d up in the ABV stake - too strong and not delivering the crisp finish the style craves.

Like their regular saison, only more so. Cloudy pour with thin head. A little lacing. Aroma is spice and grass. Looks something like juice
