An IPA with some added toasted flavours and a clean white head which is all malt. With 100% of it coming from VIC, this local legend is all the about the hops. 4 Aussie hops, fresh cut grass, lychee and mango flavours all round with an aroma of candied orange and grapefruit.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Hazy deep amber colour lasting cream head. Grapefruit aroma. Decent in mouth, good grapefruit fruit. Light malt. Good bitter finish. Some resin. Some strawberry. Decent.

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, orangey, deep golden colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Grassy-herbal, hoppy aroma, spicy hints of hay and thistle. Taste is fairly bitter hoppy, slightly grassy and herbal, minimally citrusy, a touch of balm and thistle.

(Bottle) Hazy golden amber with good white head. Nice aroma of passion fruit and pine. Medium body with good carbonation. Fruity hoppy flavours dominate over quite a sweet light malty base. Pleasant easy drinking IPA.

Light amber color. Fairly malty, but overall undistinguished IPA that I am surprised the score is so high.

330ml straight from the bottle. Sweet summer fruit nose. Hoppy taste, very sweet, but not from the malts somehow. Bitter finish.

Bottle. Amber with an inch of white head that lasts well. Aroma of kumquats, grapefruit, passionfruit, peach. Medium bodied, carbonation a little higher than I’d like. Taste is fruity and a little bready with only a little sweetness. Peach and tropical notes gradually overtaken by grapefruit and some pepper. Bitterness is medium but rings out in a dry finish. Not a lot of depth or character but does what it does very well.

From a 330ml bottle on 12/6/2013, ABV listed as 5.8% not 6.2%. Not clear why this is listed as retired. Pours a slightly cloudy light golden with a small to medium head. Has an exquisite aroma of passionfruit, mango and apricot, with some distinct floral notes. The flavour is all sweet tropical, stone and citrus fruits with a firm, satisfying hop bitterness featuring some subtle grapefruit. The body is medium to full and the carbonation perfect. This is a fantastic IPA, neither American or British in style - a true Aussie original. Well done Hawthorn!

Pours deep amber with a fading head.Nose shows some tropical fruit, fruit confectionery, soft resinous hoppy notes and lots of sweet-smelling malt. Damn enticing!Pretty similar flavours, but not so much malt, although there’s pleasant bready notes. A fair bit of fruit again and some confectionery hints. Very easy-drinking.Could use just a little bit more carbonation.Great effort from these guys, showcases the hops perfectly and remains ridiculously drinkable at the same time.
