Klosterbrauerei Andechs Spezial Hell

Spezial Hell

Klosterbrauerei Andechs in Andechs, Bavaria, Germany 🇩🇪

Lager - Märzen / Festbier Regular
Score
6.51
ABV: 5.9% IBU: - Ticks: 188
Its clear gleaming look and firm, fine pored head goes hand in hand with its fresh and pure aroma. Malty nuances are the first impressions.

Spezial Hell is pleasantly tangy with a full, round malt body that cannot fail to fascinate. The soft flavour carries a distinctive balance of sweet accents and bitter hoppiness.

It concludes on equally soft malty nuances – a classical festival beer in the tradition of old Bavarian brewing (13.5% original extract and 5.9% alcohol by volume).

0.5 l bottle from 'Rudat', best before April 2026. Clear, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, slightly floral aroma of grains, some straw and light honey. Gently sweet, moderately bitter, malty, a bit grassy-spicy and a little floral taste of grains, straw and hints of honey, followed by a short, moderately bitter finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Okay.

Drinking this German beer with a picture behind me of a Burnley FC contingent in Germany for a game in 1966. The Clarets drew 1-1 with Stuttgart. This steady Hell style is brewed not too far away close to Munich. Golden and crisp, even with a full-body it doesn't feel its strength. Nice palate feel here with a hint of citrus in both aroma and taste.
