Dark and nutty in color, with silky head, lazy carbonation keeps the head alive during the course of the drink. Flavors of toffee and butterscotch, and a little coffe bitterness make this an easy drinker. Lovely!

11.2oz bottle courtesy of Anndiesel. Really solid appearance-wise, cloudy amber-red-brown. Steady creamy off-white head. Clove, banana in the aroma, a hint of brown chocolate. A lemony hint of wheat a bite balances it out, delicate hops I guess. Creamy body, very sessionable. A really great Dunkelweizen.

Hazy brownish colour with a tan head. Sweet wheat and some banana in the nose. Rich flavour. Very sweet. Wheat, yeast, banana, light spicy and a solid malt background. One of the best dunkelweize I have had.

Tap @ Cafe Berlin, Denver. Pours hazy light burnt orange with a creamy offwhite head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, sweet fruit, clove. Taste is wheat, yeasts, fruity, spices. Medium body, soft carbonation. Rather sweet, but nice and easy drinking dunkel. 060312

Refrigerated 12 oz. bottle produced in September 2010, poured into a weizen glass. Pours medium/light brown with tawny highlights with medium off-white head. Good small bubble lacing, light/medium body, and light carbonation. Taste is caramel malt, lots of banana, and a hit of sourness. Average dunkelweizen, but may have been a tad past its prime.

Cloudy amber with a lasting white head. Aroma of bread, banana, spice and a touch of yoghurt. Dry and slightly sour malty flavour with banana and spice.

Sweet but watery. Very generic dunkelweizen. This was enjoyed on the trip to München, and unfortunately no other written information is preserved.

Pours a slightly hazed dark amber color with a two finger yellowed white head that clings to everything. Popping the cap sends sweet wheat malts aromas wafting towards my being. Hints of various fruits, lots of clove and some banana round out the nose quite well. The taste of this pulls me in a couple of directions. I’m first hit with some caramel, burnt sugar, and plums. That is followed up by and hint of lemon, clove and banana. First I think bock then its clear the hefe is in the house. Leaves a lingering spicy wheat taste on the tongue. Medium body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, lots of carbonation. Not usually something I would pick up, but I rather enjoyed this one. I could see a few of these on a warm day in my future.

Chevy Chase Wine and Liquors, DC 12oz ($2.19): Pours a really muddy color with bits of sediment floating about like it ain’t no thang. Notes of banana, spice, earth, and a tinge of fruitiness. Taste is pretty solid. Modicum of sweetness. Minor bitterness and astringency. Solid malt backbone, although that does not prevent it from being light bodied. Really easy to drink and with enough complexity to sip (although, right now I would be hard-pressed to do that). Also my bottle was a bit old and this beer is past its prime, but still quite good.
