XX Grand Cru contains 6% alcohol and is a slow-aged beer that lingers for XX (20) months in oak barrels. The result is perfection in your glass; our master brewer selects the best barrels and creates his masterly blend of 100% ‘Foederbier’. Enjoy the feeling as the beer caresses your palate and discover hitherto unknown sensations.
This deep golden beer has explosive scents and aromas of ripe red apple, small red berries, blackcurrants, dried plums and pleasant notes of balsamic vinegar. It was aged for 20 months in wooden barrels to give it the typical notes of vanilla, cognac, nuts and caramel biscuits. There is also a slight hint of Marsala. The taste is particularly refreshing thanks to the presence of mild acids that guarantee a refreshing effect on the palate. The sweet quality of the beer tempers the malty acidity and creates a harmonious whole.

Bottle @ Qvarteret (test tasting). Unclear golden body under a big, foamy white head. Aroma is fruity with Belgium yeast, spices, wood, pale malt, vinegar and slightly funky. Taste is sweet and acidic with pale malt, white sugar, acidic white berries, green apple, wood and milt dunk. Lots of different flavours, but nice balanced together. Balanced body as well and pleasant, rather tart finish.

330ml bottle. Opalescent, amber colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Tangy, funky, woody and vinous fruity aroma, notes of vinegar, balsamico, oak, blue grapes, morello, a touch of mustard seed, dill. Taste is tart, tangy, vinous fruity and woody, caramel malty basis with some residual sweetness, notes of oak, blue grapes, blue grape juice, vinegar, some balsamico, morello, sweet mustard. Watery texture, slightly astringent palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Balanced, not too agressive, relatively clean; quite rich and manifold, simultaneously light and not complicated - pretty good!

Bottle from Hopduvel. Clear amber, stable, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of ripe nectarine, passion fruit, plum juice, green apple, brioche, vinegar, wet wood, clove, 'carré confiture'. Taste has sour green apple, grape, passion fruit pit and nectarine stone in malty body of brioche & 'carré confiture', surrounded by funky vinegar & sour cream notes. Very tart finish offering funky & fermenting fruits, woody tannins (wet oak) and a vague white wine effect (without the alcohol). Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Well-made 'Oud Bruin-ish', quite accessible too (in comparison to some Alvinne examples that are better but also more aggressive).

Bottle at Heerlijk Mariakerke. Deep amber colour slight red tinge. Lasting thin cream head. A nicely soft Flemish Red that helps cutt through the smoked salmon and asparagus. Gives it a soir cherry edge. Good spir cherries. Not extreme but sour enough. Slight sweet on the tooth edge. I liked it. Well balanced.

Lichtbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is fris fruitig zoetzuur met iets van bessen, sinaasappel en appel. Ondanks zuur bier niet mijn ding is vind ik deze best goed!

Golden colour with thin head. Loads of oak and vanilla in the aroma. Strong and tangy sharp taste. Elements of funky white wine too. Nice balance of sweet and sour with enough woody dryness to keep it interesting.
