At Internationales Berliner Bierfestival 2018. Black with a tan head. Aroma of dark malt, coffee and some chocolate. The same in the taste, also some licorice. The body was almost full and the finish quite long.

0.33 l bottle from ’Vormann Brauerei’ at 7.6% abv (40 IBU), best before November 2016 (about a year old). Pitch black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Faint, sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of chocolate, coffee, some licorice and slightest hints of dark ripe fruits. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and a touch of dark ripe fruits, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Could be a bit more expressive, but it’s very round and well-balanced. Very nice!

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with late awakening, average, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Slightly grainy, dark malty aroma, hints of ammonia, raspberry, mustard. Taste is roasty, dark malty, grainy, minimally tart, hints of ammonia, mustard, raspberry. Strange, unbalanced, defective.

Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium to full sized beige to light brown head. Aroma is weird and not very nice. I get aroma of "sauerkraut". Taste malts, sourness, dark malts and then again sourness. Some bitter as well but it’s a bad imperial stout imo. Bad beer actually cause this sourness cannot be intended. Unfortunately pretty crappy.

Bottle: Almost black, small and stable tanned head; moderate to solid toasty nose, including aromas of dried black berries and wine, traces of ashes and chocolate detectable; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied and relatively soft; lingering, slightly drier, but still sweet, fruity and toasty finish with a lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Chapeau…
