BILLY PILGRIM | CITRA POP DIPA | ABV 8.8%

A locked and loaded double India Pale ale, hop-popped and cocked with a tropical composite of CITRA and CRYO POP.

Nebulous and fuzzy due to a spaffy overdose of oats and wheat with a dry biscuity Maris Otter finial.

CRYO POP and CITRA HOP marry, blunge and interflow, transmitting a fatal fallout of powerful pineapple, daiquiri lime, whipped mango and ripe peach cobbler.

So it goes.

Can at home. Hazy orange color, white head. Aroma is malts, heavily hoppy, ripe fruit hoppy. I do miss a little bitterness but still quite nice. Solid.

Tap at Kilder, Digbeth, Birmingham. Poured a slightly hazy medium to light amber with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, piney hops. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, light sweet, with a fresh, smooth oaty, light dank hop, mango, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Half-pint, on tap at The Old Fountain. Shared with Finn. Unclear golden body, fair lacing from a covering white head. Inviting floral juicy aromas. Solid fresh fruity taste profile of mandarin, apricot, and passion fruits, together with creamy malts beneath. Ends fruity, semi-sweet and long-lived. Good depth. Pleasant and tasty. (London 16.11.2021).

Can. Hazy orange gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, a decent fine minerally crispness. Light malts provide just enough creamy sweetness. Hops start with a cooling pine and move into a very light citrus with an undertone of citrus peel. Modest hop spice. Smooth and semi dry finish. It's okay. Shows some obvious alcohol towards the end, obvious by today's high dipa standards anyway and for me it doesn't have enough hop fruit punch. Don't hate it, wouldn't drink another one.

Keg at Craft Beer Junction, Bermondsey,  04/11/21. Hazed orange with a good sized off white cap that veers edgewards. Nose is ripe citric flesh, bitter orange, mango, melon, weed. Taste comprises orange pith, grapefruit, pine needle, grass, juicy citric flesh. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close punctured with dank laden hop bitterness allied to a balanced rising boost. Tidy DIPA.
