0,1l from tap at Wiener Bierfest. Amber clear color, small white head. smells spices, caramel, tobacco, Marzipan. Ok smell medium body, soft carbonation. tastes spices, peppery, leathery, metallic. finishes lightly bitter with notes of pepper, slides and leather. Ok

A very dark brown beer with a beige head. Aroma of moderate roasted malt, liquorice, chocolate. Taste of roasted dark malt, nuts, caramel, liquorice.

Bottle picked up from Sulzberger Bierhaus, Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm. Had this at home cooking a Pasta Pesto with Steve Lamaq on 6 Music had this Wednesday 4th January 2023. Pours light chestnut with a huge frothy off white head. More of a caramel focus with this beer than the previous Dunkel, however there is a similar level of carbonation, but with this more of a little fruity dark fruit skin touch, not much but offers up a slightly different angle.

Malzig-herber, relativ trockener Beginn. Leicht röstig-blechern im Hintergrund, süffig, nicht übermäßig intensiv. Zum Ende etwas bitterer werdend, mittellanger Abgang. 8/8/10/9/9/9

Optisch wunderschön! Im Glas steht ein klares, dunkles Rotbraun. Kräftige feine Perlage lässt sich dabei erkennen. Die bräunliche, fein- mittel- und grobporige Schaumkrone ist dabei flaumig und gut haltbar. In der Nase süßlich-röstig und leicht rauchig mit angenehmen Dörrobstnoten und Aroma von dunkler Schoko. Der Antrunk überzeugt mit seiner Frische und süßlich-herber bis röstiger Aromatik. Am Gaumen zeigen sich dominante Aromen von Röstmalz, Dörrobst und zartherber Schokolade. Sogar eine leichte Rumnote legt sich dazu. Aufgrund der kräftigen, leicht komplexen Zusammensetzung ergibt sich ein lediglich mäßiges Mundgefühl. Die Süffigkeit darf als okay bezeichnet werden. Im Nachtrunk flacht die Sache leider relativ rasch ab, wirkt aber dennoch gut. Am Ende muss man sagen, dass die Aromatik etwas ausgewogener und vielleicht einen Hauch herber gestaltet sein könnte. Sehr positiv bewerte ich aber, dass sich dieses Bier nicht zu süß präsentiert und Freude macht.

330ml bottle shared with BlackHaddock. Pours a deep clear mahogany, with accompanying varnished head. Toasted malts, ryebread and nuts present themselves on the nose, and continue to taste, quite thin bodied with a dry bitterness. There are better dunkles, this is ok.

9th May 2021. The Great World Awakening tasting with Minutmat, assisted by Grumbo (who supplied 8 of the beers). We had 14 beers from 13 different countries as we tried to add some new countries to improve our stats. 33cl bottle between us: BB 28th Feb 2021, so out of date a bit. Full beige head on a clear mahogany coloured body. Pleasant malty aroma and taste, slight dark fruit hints in the flavour too.
