Characterised by its firm and fine pored head. Even before the first sip, the beer epicure will register the soft aromas of dark malt carrying caramel and cocoa accents with a nuance of smokiness.
Andechser Export Dunkel is pleasantly tangy with a full, round, malty body. The nuance of quality plain chocolate marries well with the soft bitterness of the smoky undertone.
It concludes on a mild, harmonious note (12.5% original extract and 4.9% alcohol by volume).

Clear chestnut brown with a one finger tall ivory-coloured head of medium retention. A lot of lovely dark bread, toast, some chocolate, noble hop. Rather dry. Light hop bitterness. Good.

Pours clear, dark caramelly brown. Small frothy off-white head. Scent is chestnut, caramel, dark bread. Scent is sharp, very caramelly, sweet, almost a bit metallic-like. Def too sweet to my taste.

A dark brown beer, a head is quite big and beige. Aroma has breadyness, syrup, light herbs. Taste has breadyness, some syrup, which is nice. Medium bodied. Nothing wrong there. Nice beer.

Roodbruin bier met schuim wat snel wegzakt. Smaak is bitterzoet met iets van chocolade, karamel en wat noten en een vleug donker gedroogd fruit.

Bottle at home, just past the BBD, crazy how I didnt go through a crate of lagers in 6 months. Dark copper pour with a thin, offwhite head. Nose is toasted malts, light caramel, deep fruityness, poached pear, yeast esters? Strange. Taste is sweet malt-driven, light caramel and toasted malts, again that fruityness which I cant shake the thought of coming from yeast. Light bodied with low to medium carbonation. Unremarkable and not malty enough, that fruity-estery expression is interesting though

Bottle from HOTB. Pours a reddish brown with beige head. A notable caramel aroma with dried fruits, bread, light grassy hop. Taste follows aroma with maybe the addition of a cocoa note, quite moreish, slightly dry, moderate bitterness, light to mid bodied, soft carbonation. A very refreshing tasty dark lager.

Tap at Andechs near the Munich Dom 0.5ltr: Not so good as his Helles brother. Amber coloured beer with roasted malts taste.
