Noch Mal loosely means “once more” which is a saying that was heard in the pubs across Germany so many moons ago. Seemed like a good name for a German style pilsner! This is a crisp golden pilsner with an assertive hop presence that includes notes of thyme, lemongrass and tea. A classic style re-imagined with 3 hops new to the brewing world.

Gold, bright. Thin head, lots of malt, low bitterness and could do with more hop expression too.

Flight pour at brewery. Pours clear yellow with a white head. Aroma has very gentle pale malts. Flavour has pale bready malts, some straw. Decently crisp, but not excellent.

473ml can. Pours a clear gold with a medium, frothy, long lasting, white head that leaves thick lacing. Mild aroma of bready pale malt, grass, lemon and herbal hops. Sweet flavour of grainy pale malt, lemon, a herbal note (thyme?) and a hint of black tea in a dry, bitter grass finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Clean, refreshing and easy to drink.

On tap at Container, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out light grass, some herbal notes and biscuity malt. Flavour is clean, with light grassy hops and crisp biscuity malt. Clean and gently bitter, but not exactly crisp. Decent enough, but there's not much here to appreciate.

Clear light gold body and okay chewy foam. Very vague sweet pilsnery hops aroma, all too soft. Taste is good sweet pilsner hops, soft grain, smooth with some nice crispness. Flawed but still very drinkable.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver, 14-Sept-2021, 1 week old
Blond colour, chill haze. Some bread crust and biscuity malt; dry mouthfeel; it has robust bitterness, with herbaceous, almost pithy character. Strangely, it's very good with some spicy food (it hides the pith), but mediocre by itself.
Decent but not particularly inspired.
