Tap at CBM Koenji. Have been pleasantly surprised by this brewery. Aroma is dried fruit, yeastiness and a lick of booze. Taste is good. Cakey, fruit, light spice. Not so complex, but very easy drinking and decent flavour

Bottle. dark amber color. Malt, toffee and butter in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with some grassy hops, toffee and dried citrusfruit. Slightly alcoholic, carbonation is soft. Quite nice.

Bottle at home from Biervana, 21st October 18. Pours a clear brown. Aroma is caramel, burnt sugar, roasted notes. Taste is burnt sugar, caramel, not as deep and roasty as some, but is very tasty, good one.

Bottle, 0.33l. Murky deep brown color with thin creamy tan-like head, yeast residue and sparkling appearance. Aroma of caramel, toasted malt, dried fruit, syrup, honey, vanilla and rubber. Taste starts with medium sweet toasted malt, follows by grass, dandelion syrup and sherry, mouthfeel is warming and spicy, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy texture and soft to average carbonation in palate. Quite a weak start, then turns into a bit weird and not too strong barley wine...

No carbonation so a vigorous pour is needed to create a thin wispy head. The aroma is full of sweetness. Caramel and fruit cake in particular. These are featured in the flavour too together an earthy hoppiness that does a good job of preventing this from being a sugar bomb.

bottle from kappldav123 - many thanks! Deep golden with an off-white head. Full-bodied, solid malty base, not too sweet, with apricot and peach, also dried fruit. Shy, fruity-bitter hoppy finish.

Pours a slightly hazy coppery color, topped with a medium small off -white head. Grainy malt nose, some biscuity presence but not really strong. Very sweet, malty and a tad fruity, some dried fruits (plums). Slightly dusty feel to it. Alcohol is present, but nicely covered. A bit too sweet and malty in general for my liking. Not the best barley wine I had.
