Light golden/orange, a bit of foam dissipates quickly...white head...aroma---blueberry cereal that sat in the sun too long...almost sour blueberry flavor, not too bad ...palatable...wayyy better flavor than aroma, it grows on you

Strong blueberry aroma when the cap popped. In the glass the aroma is blueberry and some wheat. Orange tinged gold color with a white head that didn’t last long. Thin to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. The flavor is blueberry with standard wheat. It’s not super, but it is decent. The finish is very lightly sweet with something like blueberry skins. Clean, refreshing. Can’t say crisp, though. Surprisingly tasty.

Open the bottle and smell blueberries from two feet away. In the glass some wheat seems detectable, but it’s all about blueberries. Light amber color with a decent white head. Tastes of blueberry skin, then wheat, then blueberry juice, finally a burst of sweetness that settles down to a blueberry mouth coat, and what could be a light hop bitter, but might well be more blueberry skin. Seems to be done with flavor additive rather than berries in the brew process. At least it’s "natural flavor added". Ok for a change of pace. Definitely not for constant consumption.

Bottle: Massive blueberry aroma - like blueberry syrup. Clear golden pour and a small white head. Taste is like watery lager beer with some blueberry. Smells nice though. Thanks Indiana_Red.

Bottle Pours a slightly hazy very pale orange/yellow. Small quick white ring of a "head" and a few spots of lacing. Tons of blueberry aroma. Sweet light wheat malt flavors with the fuit notes coming through a bit soapy and artificial. Light fizy palate. Run-of-the-mill fruit beer. ..yer welcome "bucky boy"...

Cloudy, carbonated look, with an ok head. Total blueberry smell. Sounds good so far, until in starts sucking at tasting good.It has a fizzy thin taste, in which all you can taste is a hint of blueberry and some doughyness, ending with a cardboardesque finish. Kind of sucks. I don’t see why this is rated so high. I thought that the Raspberry was much, much better.

Very good blueberry aroma. Low carbonation. Light malt in the flavor, and some honey as well. Reminds me of Town Hall Thunderstorm. Well balanced.

Brown 12 oz bottle. I get nervous when a beer says ’flavors added’. Pours a clear yellow in my steeler stein, which is surprizing for a wheat beer. Aroma is very sweet and appealing, like fresh blueberries. Initial taste has a little bit of blueberry flavor is in the background. Average carbonation. Nothing that great but has no offense to it like many fruit beers I’ve tasted. Very little if any bitterness on the finish. Pretty refreshing.

Update: 10/2/07. Now my local Trader Joe’s has both the Sea Dog and the Kennebunkport label versions of this same beer on its shelves. Don’t know, it doesn’t taste a bit different that I recall. If they’d ferment on blueberries instead of using "Natural Flavor Added," they might have something different. Or it might just become too dry and sour. Bottle, "Best before" 05/07. Yeep! You know those four dispensers of fruitish syrup on every table at IHOP? You know the bluebrry one? That’s exactly what this one smells like when I open it. It’s worrisome that the label reads "Wheat beer with natural flavor added," making it an adulterated regular beer instead using blueberry juice in the ferment. At least its color is okay, not like the pinkish abominations some fruit beers become, but a light amber instead, under a nearly nonexistent head. Can’t pick up too much of the beer base, but instead some fruit tartness from the blueeberry flavors. Then at least a little solid malts are felt. I like the comparison from other raters to a Berliner Weisse with blueberry syrup. But this needs a little more character to match it.
