1 oz pour at RR
A - Amber hazy pour.
S - Smells like a lot of brown sugar, heavy malts
T - Cough syrup viscosity with orange and honey. Apples and pears.
M - medium carbonation and body.
O - It’s okay. Nothing to write home about. Almost too sweet.

Draught @ the brewpub. Rated on 21.07.2012
Aroma is stale with woody notes, some hay and bready malt. Flavour is sweetish with brown sugar. Malty palate and dry finish. Balanced.

@Toronado–on tap-pours a light tan ring for a head and mahogany color. Aroma is mild roasty/peat-medium/dark malt. Taste is roasty/peat/licorice-medium/dark malt with some sweet, wood, spice hops, yeast. Dubbel? Interesting, better as it warmed.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours dark amber/brown with a beige head. Nice dark malt aroma. Medium body/mild carbonation. Flavor is smooth dark roasted malt with a slight hint of sour, though that could be citrus. There’s some light fruit in here. Very smooth. Finishes malty, though not sweet, so the 28 IBU must keep a balance. Very quaffable.

Draft, Russian River. Pliny the Younger 2010 release. This is a pretty good Belgian-style ale from RR, but it’s a bit boring, particularly for the brewery. It’s a orange-amber beer with a foamy white head. The malt flavors bring a lot of fruitiness to the beer. There are peaches, apricots, apples, dates and figs. However, despite all that, it has a relatively simple flavor and not enough earthiness or depth. A good beer but not something to go out of your way to try.

On tap at O’Brien’s. Listed as an Abbey Dubbel. Pours with a slightly hazed dark brown body and a small, fading brown head. Aroma of raisins, brown sugar and hoppy bitterness. Taste is belgian yeast, and by far the most bitter (hops) abbey ale I have ever had. Finishes strongly bitter. Apple, raisins and dough accompany the bitterness. Water like mouthfeel, light carbonation.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear dark amber. Aroma of cocoa and cocktail cherries. Fairly dry and rather sofy with firm mouthfeel and above medium body. Light almond character. Rich flavours of orange and chocolate opens up when it warms, and the relative dryness makes them stand out. Salty finish.

Draught, at the brewery
Burgundy colour. Sweet and bubblegummy and raisiny. A bit effervescent in the finish, which breaks up the rich sweetness. Fairly complex for the style, low on the yeastiness but with a fairly estery aroma. Not cloudy enough for me visually.
