Nefiltr Pšeničný

Croatian November ’11 RB tasting, heavy’s bottle, found in Prague. Yay! Another StarBev unfiltered spiced wheat lager. Anyway, poured a murky pale ochre/orange/golden body. Medium-small white head. Light yeasty coriander-laden subdued nose. Dull light orange/coriander taste, light aftertaste. Again, not the best of the bunch.

bottle from Coop Tuty Sušice. Cloudy pale straw-yellow colour, impressive and long-lasting white head, stable as beaten egg-white. Spicy aroma with hints of apples. Malty base, light and elegant, shy bitter and aromatic hops plus spices (coriander) and a shy fruitiness, probably coming from the apples. The beer is neither too fruity nor too spicy, it clearly is not a fruit beer, but it’s hard to tell what it is - it is a hybrid with elements of witbier/blanche, German Hefeweizen, fruit beer, etc. Smooth and thirst-quenching. A really pleasant surprise!

Re-rate 10/20/11: Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks Tom. Cloudy golden. Aroma of yeast, fruits, earthy notes, light spiciness, vegetal hints and a bit of hops. Flavor starts a bit sweetish with a bit of spiciness and finishes drier with light hoppiness. Rather light-bodied. Not nearly as good as the draught sample I had in Prague, but still not bad. 6/3/6/3/13=3.1

[9/19/11] Mahleket Hanikot Shotrim ’11 tour. Memory ratings of the stolen notepad #17. Draught at Cafe Na Pul Cesty in Prague. Cloudy golden. Grassy bitter hops, a bit of sweet malt and slightly earthy and vegetal yeast. Good, fresh and refreshing. 7/3/7/4/14=3.5

(Bottle 0,5l) Hops, light wheat, sweet, some other (maybe coriander) aroma. Cloudy yellow color. Medium white head. Light sweet, medium bitter, light sour. Also some other taste (maybe coriander again). Dry finish. This beer is some kind of "Beer hybrid". Definitely not typical unfiltred ("nefiltrovaný") czech beer. Not exactly weizen beer, it is bottom fermented. There are also apple and coriander extract, so it should be even fruit beer... Taste and aroma of this beer is also a mixture of this beer styles.
