2018 Limited Edition. Cognac Barrel Aged version of Jazz' Black Oatmeal Delight. Coffee and Cognac is a great combination, so we thought we couldn't go bad with that combo. The name is not final yet but it's coming soon as it has been bottled already.

Bottle. Batch 01 bottle 1-647, 2018 limited edition. Color: Almost black, very thin beige head. Aroma: Roasted malt, Cognac. Taste: Roasted malt, pretty strong Cognac, boozy, medium sweetish. Notes of sweetish dark fruit, oak. Umami. Light hints of apple and coffee. Some bitterness and a bit spicy mouthfeel at prety boozy finish. Medium to above medium body, just below average carbonation. Overall quite nice but I've a feeling that something is missing. Maybe it's because of the relatively thin body for this kind of beer. I like the tekst on the label that says Ever tried, ever failed, no matter. Try again, fail again, fail better. I hope this brewery will try again, because this beer has more potential.

Horecabeurs 2018. Pours very dark bron. No real head. Smell is bit boozy, oaky, cognac indeed. Taste is full, sweet, boozy, cognac, roastyness of the malts is less intense than the alcohol. OK, decent as an idea, but this might benefit from a backblend.

6 October 2018. At Modeste Bierfestival, Antwerp. Cheers to Anke & Elke!
Apparently a 2018 limited edition. Hazy dark brown to black, no lacing. Aroma of cognac, port, blackcurrant, raisin, vanilla, almond, red apple, red grape, caramel. Medium malty sweet onset, lots of red fruit & apple, some vanilla too; light herbal bitter middle, notes of tea, coffee, faint toast; sourish red fruit fizzing in the back, red grapes & cognac. Dryish, peppery & earthy hoppy finish, lingering red fruit, caramel, warming port alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, flat carbonation. Unmistakeable cognac character, oatmeal-like oiliness is there too, could have been fuller though.
