Hailed by the late beer writer Michael Jackson as ‘one of the great characters of the beer world’, Abbot Ale is brewed for quality of the highest order. Abbot is an irresistible ale with masses of fruit characters, a malty richness and superb hop balance. It is brewed longer to a unique recipe, which makes it the full-flavoured, smooth and mature beer it is today.

Cask @ Eagle, Cambridge. Clear dark amber with no head. Aroma of toffee, marzipan and malts. Taste of malts, red fruits, toffee, cookies, marzipan and caramel. Low bitterness. Low carbonation. Balanced and very enjoyable. Nice.

0.5 l can @ Mijas. Copper coloured with white head. Slight malty-biscuits aroma, followed by the same notes in taste, but quite faintly. Way too light and watery.

i found this to be very big on the english hops. It had a very pine resin aroma to it, and the flavour was much of the same. There was quite a bit of an odd maltiness to it. I didnt really enjoy it, but i can’t really pinpoint why.

50 cl. can @ the apartment.
Clear amber with a white head. Malty aroma with hints of toast. Sweet taste with a medium bitter finish. Nice suprise to find on lager infested Tenerife.

Half pint at The Reservoir, Earlswood, Solihull. Clear amber with nice consistent top. Its malty, very smooth with a nice nuttiness to it, and a hint of fruity hop. Good balance between sweet and bitter. Simple but effective.
