My bottled review of this beer (Nov 2008) reads a lot differently to this: with one or two trends common! Hand pulled pint in some random pub (The Anchor), Cambridge, England in late Nov 2011. ‘Late hopped for a mellow fruity flavour’ according to the brewery: let’s see if I agree. Dark Chestnut brown/red with a cream coloured crown of foam; looked OK. Malts in the aroma, roasted ones, add some candied fruit and nuts for good measure. The flavours also on the malty side, again with some hints of dried fruits and nuts: on the sweeter side more than dry or citrusy in taste. The body was thinner than it looked, no true depth at all considering the brewery claim it is a ‘Winter Warmer’. Nothing wrong with it, a dark coloured bitter with a pleasant enough blend of ingredients, easy to drink and inoffensive: however I couldn’t find any evidence of that ‘Late hopped for a mellow fruity flavour’ stuff. As an overview: just another Greene King beer to flood the market with, most likely made from a regular base brew and tinkered with.

[Cask at Copa, Reading] Orange-brown with a moderate creamy head. Fairly thick mouthfeel with a slight fizz. Treacley malts, with some toffee, plums and autumn leaf mulch. Sweet, rather dull. Recognisably Greene King, unfortunately, but not as poor as some of theirs.

Appearance: Brownish red. Almost no head. Aroma: Nice malt and hops. Some fruit. Taste: Nice bitterness. Some malt and caramel. Info: 500ml bottle, 21/12-2009

Cask at the Nascot Arms, Watford. Red brown in colour with a loose white head; aroma of well roasted malts and caramel; rich, roasted malt flavour with some nuts and sour purple fruit; dry finish. A warming and pleasant pint on a cold winters evening.

Cask at Queens Larder, Bloomsbury 15 Nov 08. Dark brown colored. A small fluffy head. Aroma of nuts amd malt. Flavor is fruity with plums and raisins. Sweet – but a dry fruity bitterness emerging.

bottle, thank you pivnizub! Clear amber-copper colour, large and creamy beige head. Malty nose. Medium-bodied with good malty flavours, hints of roasetd malt and raisins. A good one.

Bottle. Clear ruby-amber coloured, small persistent off-white layer. Medium to solid toasty and fruity - raisins - nose. Moderate sweet-bitter flavour, astonishingly "full" bodied for a beer of 4.5%, soft MF. Lingering fruity-malty finish with a tinge of cacao-powder and lemony hoppy touch in the aftertaste. Good and pleasant............

50cl bottle. Amber color. Malty and fruity taste (citrusy) and a nice touch of pine. Found it to have a nice caramel touch. Drinkable and not bad at all.

(bottle) Clear, amber colour with a medium-sized, light-beige foamy head. Light-sweet and discreet toasty malty aroma with liquorice, toffee and an aromatic lemon-fruity and piney hoppy blend. Light-bitter flavour, rather slim bodied with a moderate, slightly crispy carbonation. Slim toast-malty and fruity taste, slightly nutty with liquorice; moderately dry and slightly bitter finish with fruity hops A bit slim but still pretty aromatic brew (24.05.08).

Bottle. Brown-red with slight head. Fruity aroma followed by a sweet malt flavour with some hops in the finish. Unremarkable.
