The Puffin, or 'tammie norrie' as it is affectionately known in Orkney, brings a smile to the face of anyone lucky enough to see it. Also known as the 'clown of the sea', the puffin is an unmistakable seabird due to its comical appearance - red and black eye markings and bright orange legs.

Puffin is a burnished bronze beer with aromas of spices, sweet nutty malt and dark fruits. An inviting rich malt palate is balanced with notes of herbs and spicy fruitiness.

Hops: Bramling Cross, Targert
Malts: Pale, Crystal, Malted Wheat

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - golden amber with a proportionate head. Nose - light toffee and herb. Taste - toffee confirmed. Light shortbread in the background. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish if a little sweet. Overall - a decent though indistinguishable from others bitter style.

Cask handpull Hamilton Hall London. Amber slight haze. Lasting cream head. Slightly malty golden bitter. Decent. Light malts ok balancing hop. Well balanced bitter. I grew up in a house called The Puffins. Fitting tribute.

Cask at Victoria Spoons. It pours clear amber with a decent off-white head. The nose is earthy, wood, brown bread, caramel, berry, grainy and biscuit. The taste is bitter-sweet, toasty, nutty, light caramel, biscuit, honeyed grain and some berry with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A well- rounded, easy-drinking bitter.
