Named after the rare and elusive bird which migrates to Orkney to breed. One such bird landed in front of the brewery, so we decided to honour our new feathered friend, with a brew dedicated to its endeavour.

Corncrake is an irresistible golden ale. New world hops compliment the biscuity pale malt, to provide a thirst-quenching ale, with fruit flavours of lemon, apricot and peach.

Hops: Columbus, Styrian Goldings
Malts: Pale, Crystal, Malted Wheat

Cask at Pot Still. Clear bright gold, light haze. Thick low head. Lager-like nose. Noble hops, rich malt. Tastes like a helles on cask. Crisp and malty, honey, biscuits, lightly lemony and herbal hops. A bit bland but ok.

Bottle from the Orkney Brewery. Pours a clear light golden colour with a medium sized white head. Aromas of citrus fruits, biscuit and floral notes. Taste has more of the same notes with a gentle hoppy bitterness on the finish. Fairly light bodied, soft carbonation and a slightly oily mouthfeel. Overall it is a nice elegant tasting ale.

500ml bottle: BBE June 2020. Bought in Kirkwall and drank on board my cruise liner on 3rd Sep 2019. Light amber body, no head. Mild aroma of both a malty and floral nature, taste leaning towards a malty sweetness with a little hop bitterness in the tail end of each sip.
