Flanders Red is an acidic, sour ale with an initial impression of tart cherries and sour candy that dissipates into a complex palate displaying both a sharp lactic sourness with a backbone of caramel and biscuit malt profiles and minimal hop character. The dry, wine-like finish accentuates the complex malt profile and bright fruit notes showcased in this brilliant red colored hybrid of a modern Flanders and German-style sour.

Can from Beer Republic. Aroma has notes of tart and sweet red fruits with caramel malt, tart cherries, more caramel and red fruits. Flavour is tart and sweeter than I expected. Body is medium. Lacks the complexity of the Greats in this style.

Pour is cherry red with a large white head. Aroma is red wine vinegar with some cherry must. Flavor is cherry juice with a minor tartness with some pie crust. Finish leaves a tart cherry on the tongue. Not as puckering and tart as some Belgian versions but this was very flavorful and spot on for a Flanders red.

Can, 0.355l. Aroma of red wine, cherries, must and wood. Pours clear brown color with thin creamy tan-like head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts tart vinous and cherry-like, following is caramelly and bready with notes of tannins with dry mouthfeel. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Ned Flandersβ Redβ¦

Straightforward Flanders Red ale, vinous and acidic, with notes of tart berry, cab, and a sharp citric backbone. Missing a little character on the back end--probably why this style begs to be oak-aged--but still a decent pint.

Can 35,5 cl. Pours a reddish amber with a slight haze and a lacing, off-white head. Sweet, berry-like aroma. Medium body, again berries, caramel and a slight woodiness. Subtle edge of tarness. Neat, but far from the complexity of the best Belgian Reds. 210121
