Shinnicked Stout is named after a slang word for “that numbing, gasp-for-breath feeling you get when you plunge into a Muskoka lake for a chilly late-night dip in the fall or walk outside on a -20 winter day.”

Shinnicked Stout is a rich, velvety beer brewed in collaboration with local coffee company Muskoka Roastery, using their signature Lumberjack coffee. Shinnicked is infused with flavours of dark chocolate and hints of coffee, toffee and dried fruit.

A tasty low ABV stout. A bubbly light tan head on a very dark brown body. Nose is understated with chocolate, mild coffee and roasted malt. The lead taste, surprisingly, was a touch of cream followed by mild coffee, sweet chocolate, a touch of toffee, slightly roasted malt and some mixed nuts. The body is quite rich for a non-imperial.

Can from the lcbo. Dark brown, not quite black pour with a medium beige head. A nice roasty Aroma, solid notes of coffee, and bitter cocoa powder. Hints of smoke and soy, and subtle dark fruit. Mouth feel is very nice, carb is spot on. Finish is very roasty, slight milk chocolate, and ends with a light bitterness. A nice session stout, lots of flavour, but not over powering. Well done.

473ml can. Pours an opaque black with a medium, creamy, short lived, tan head that laces. Semi-sweet aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and caramel. Semi-sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, licorice, ash and earth in a dry, mild bitter coffee finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and average carbonation. This won't warm you up, but it's ok.

A safe stout, dry and hoppy, but a solid roast that’s very pleasant. Sk sobeys variety pack

Can from the Beer Store Mississauga Dark brown with faint garnet at the edges and a bubbly frothy tan head that slowly dissipates. Big roast with some light brown sugar on the nose and some faint earthy fruity notes. Huge coffee in the flavor but with a soft sweet maltiness that balances it well. Pretty damn tasty coffee stout.

Bought pint at Epicurean, Niagara on the Lake. Black colour, creamy tan head. Medium lacing. Scents of coffee and a little cocoa. Finish is burnt with delicious roasted caramel flavour lingering.

Pours a dark brown colour with rubu highlights and a big frothy mocha-coloured head, good retention and some foamy lacing. Roasted malt aromas with some sweetness from the caramel malts. Hints of chocolate, coffee, spices, nuts and vanilla. Mouthfeel is a little oily, but overall wet. Flavours are not sweet like it seems it will be. Roasted malts well-balanced with hops. Mild bitterness and a shorter coffee finish. A stout that is quite easy to drink.

Can from the LCBO. Dark brown/black with a fluffy long lived two finger khaki head. Nose is coffee, dark chocolate, some dark fruit and light vanilla. Flavour is some light sweet molasses and a medium- coffee and chocolate bitterness, though the coffee is much more subdued than in the nose. Mouth is creamy but a tad thin with a short finish. Nice enough. 8-/4-/6+/4-/14
