Back in my garage on Elbeck Street in Houston, Texas, a honey porter was the first dark beer I ever brewed. The decision followed the suggestion by a friend that I not be afraid of the "dark side". The result was a delicious beer made rich and smooth by the honey.
Over the years, I’ve tweaked the recipe and now make it with a little chocolate rye malt and a lot of local Alberta honey from GrammaBee’s Honey (100% non-medicated bees producing all natural unprocessed honey). The result is a humble, medium bodied dark beer with hints of sweet honey flavour mixed with dark chocolate. I hope you enjoy this tasty offering from Elbeck Brews.

On tap. Pours an opaque dark brown almost black with a medium, creamy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, caramel, toffee, nuts and honey. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, ash, chocolate, spicy rye, nuts and honey with an odd sourness in a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Ok.
