Imperial Stout brewed with Molasses and with Pecan Extract added
A few times in the history of craft beer a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, molasses, pecan extract and obviously only made in limited amounts. People – this is the taste of rare!

Can to snifter.
Appearance: poured black and was black in the glass with a finger and a quarter of tan foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: molasses, toasted pecans, butterscotch, milk chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, touch of booze and a light coffee roastiness
Flavor: melds the prior noted aromas to a fine roasty to sticky sweet to toasty nutty quality; finishes the same way
Texture: medium bodied, surely a sipper; gentle smoothness with a sturdy stickiness on the tongue (but that was expected - so no harm no foul)
Overall: a very nicely decadent stout, surely I would want another but that might mean getting diabetes.

A dense, sticky masterpiece of an IS. A rich and boozy nose leads into a taste profile with dark molasses, chocolate fudge, trickle, burnt butter and dark berries. An ashy finish brings the sweetness and richness into balance. Chewy, sticky and delicious!

On tap @ Hopa. Jet black, beige head. Nose is grains, chocolate, some earthy notes and moderate booze. In taste the same notes appear wrapped in a beautiful creamy mouthfeel. Medium to heavy bodied with soft carbo, closes with medium coffee/roasted finish.

(Can) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, rum raisins, pecan nuts, vanilla, liquorice, caramel and alcohol. Malty, roasted, sweetish taste with notes of rum raisins, pecan nuts, dark chocolate, vanilla, liquorice, coffee, caramel, molasses, dried fruit and a generous roasty bitterness in a warming, slightly boozy, finish. Full body, sweet. On the sweet and boozy side, but really rich and tasty. Very nice.

Super deep dark brown coloured body with a fairly large, super oily dark brown head that starts pretty tall at around five centimetres in height that drops down to a single centimetre after just a few seconds and leaves a pretty noticeable dark brown lace on the sides. Aroma of molasses, burnt sugars, brown sugar, pitted fruit, raisins and a bit of nuts with some big earthiness here along with a strong kick of alcohol warmth in the nose, at least. Full-bodied; Strong rich malty quality at first with a lot of nuts and earth and a big pitted fruit note with some grain here and a lot of both vanilla and alcohol here that stick through just about everything. Aftertaste shows a lot of nuts and earth with more sweetness coming from molasses, brown sugar and pitted fruit with a bunch of alcohol and cream along with a big pungency and astringency from the warmth - especially at the end. Overall, a nice beer that is super pungent, very deep and showing a good balance of malts, chocolate, nuts, earth and alcohol with the burnt sugars and light coffee notes hitting towards the end that are enjoyable, just super deep. Good to sample after all these years, but I think that had I had this immediately after purchase, it would have been far too astringent and sharp and even now it still shows way too much alcohol, but i' m sure this already has been tempered quite a bit. I sampled this sixteen ounce (far too obtuse of a format) pint-sized can, purchased from Beer Table Pantry in New York (Grand Central Terminal, 42nd St), New York on 11-August-2018 for US$7,99, just batch #004, sampled at my house here in Washington close to four years later on 14-May-2022.

The aromas are a little solvent upfront then roast, molasses, black patent, dark malt and something spoiled. Flavors are like nose, on the sweet side at first with growing bitterness. Molasses are dominant and the pecan hard to find. I wish it was the other way around. Decent carbonation and full body with a bitter finish.

Can, 0.473l. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, nuts, dried fruit, coffee, leather and whiskey. Pours almost black color with thin creamy light brown head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt, molasses and nuts, following is salty, coffee-like and leathery, mouthfeel is warm alcoholic, while finish is average bitter. Full body, thick creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Jesus is the man..

Truly excellent stuff One more please Floating chocolate! In Norway we have one called Top Ris. This one reminded me of this one. Black as the deepest dungeon with a solid creamy beige head. Sold lacing also. Looks great. Nice aroma with a fine intensity. Full body and mellow soft carbonation level. Oily texture. Chocolate ohoi in the flavor.
