The Emelisse Roaring Raisin Iced Stout BA has aged for a whopping three years on bourbon barrels. Hints of raisins, currants and many other sweet aromas take you by the hand in this barrel aged Eisbock. The aroma of raisins continues in the full taste, with a pleasant note of red fruit. A subtle sweet-sour tingle permeates through the full body, coming from the tannins of the bourbon barrel. The alcohol percentage of 14,9% will surely give you that typical alcohol warming aftertaste.

Bottle @Haderslebener Tasting. Nearly black, no head. Boozy dried fruit aroma. Smells more like rum than bourbon barrel. Sweet flavour, raisons, bourbon, obvious alc warmth.

0.33l bottle thanks to Lore. Pitch black body with an immediately disappearing brown head. Not the beer for the fainth hearted. The bourbon roundhouse kicks you in the face for a start and then the bold oak notes make the impact even heavier. The middle of the sip shows a lot of chocolate, some caramel, dried plums and nutmeg. The body is very thick. Not that it's bad, but a bit too strong for me.

deep dark brown, almost black colour, half cm of yellowish beige head, which disappears in a minute or so leaving back only some minimal yellowish-beige lacing; aroma of tawny port dessert wine aged for decades, raisins soaked in alcohol, plum jam, some licorice, minimal dark chocolate and acetone notes, taste of sweet tawny port wine, sweet raisins, sugar syrup, spicy alcohol, prune, syrup, alcohol, syrup, some alcohol and maybe some syrup, too...and spicy alcoholic aftertaste...definitely not for everyday use - only for special reasons as 'dessert beer'...

Utterly headless, even pouring from standing up, viscous as oil, deep dark brown beer. Raisins - indeed! - Portwine or Marssala, dried plums. Utterly sweet, syrupy, and indeed utterly raisin-dominated. Sangria with an orange and sugar overdose. Liquorice and prunes. Sticky-viscous, almost ropy, furious alcoholheat. Sweet, sweet... and yet it is pleasing, no doubt, Jens!
