An old school West Coast IPA with a strong malt backbone, big hits of citrus and pine lead to a long bitter finish.

Can from Beer52. Clear amber with small white head. Aroma of malts, pine, citrus zest; a bit standard old style perhaps? Taste confirms its old style at least, big pine, resin and bitter notes from the off. However there are softer caramel, orange and mango in the background so its not one noted or astringent. Not my favourite style of IPA but this one has its merits.

Can from Low Cost Beer. Appearance - a touch lively, hazy orange with a foamy slightly off-white head. Nose - cakey, dried orange and pine edge. Taste - more pine this time, still some dried orange as well as fresh. Pithy and bready backdrop. Palate - medium bodied, creamy middle and dry, bitter finish. Overall - good stuff.

Can from Beer 52 – drank at home. Pours a bright copper with an enormous frothy off-white head than quickly evaporates, but does leave some lacing. Malts and pine plus a hint of oranges in the aroma. In the mouth there’s a brief burst of malty sweetness to starts, before it is overwhelmed by an avalanche of very bitter traditional hops, plus marmalade, pine and a trace of citrus. Bitterness lasts into the finish. This is MY kind of IPA – not your wishy washy grapefruit juice stuff ! Gorgeous.

330ml can - Pours a lightly hazed orange amber colour with a small frothy off-white head. The aroma is fruity and hoppy, orange marmalade, guava, caramel and resiny. A moderately sweet to light sweet taste, orange marmalade, guava, grapefruit, caramel and pine with an oily, resinous and hoppy bitterness.

Rocky off white head left a froth on a amber coloured still body. Malt, marmalade & pithy aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & gluey with a sharp dry back. Bitter, pithy, grapefruit, marmalade & malt tastes with a long tangy finish. Excellent - Bring back the WC!

[33cl can from Beer52.] A golden amber coloured pour with a fast fading white head; malty aroma with a hint of pine resin; ugary body with some apricots; and a biscuity finish with lingering pine. A pleasant west coast style IPA.
