The light burned malts give Barbe Noël its deep golden blond color. The spicy hops deliver a fresh bitter taste. After the brewing process the beer is fermented for a first time during 14 days. During the second lagering the beer gets a fuller taste. This lagering ends when an alcohol percentage of 7.2% ABV is reached. The stamwort content of the Barbe Noël is at 16 Hl° Plato.

Bottle from Eltham Wines. Golden orange pour with a white head. Nose is orange marmalade, barley sugar, sweet spices. Taste is orange toffee, barley sugar, more sweet spice. Heavy alcohol burn. Sweet warming action with a splash of spicy bitterness coming through in the back end. Quite heavy going.

Barbe Noël von Verhaeghe, ein blond obergäriges Bier von 7,2 %, Fläschchen aus Tausch mit Jef - danke sehr! - Dunkelgoldgelb, blank. - In der Nase schweres, fettes helles Malz, Alkohol, leicht parfümierte, süßliche Noten und schwach muffige Hopfung mit Orangeat. - Antrunk fett hellmalzig mit parfümartiger, herbfruchtiger Süße, Kandiszucker, Bitterorange. Deutlich obergärig. Milder rezent, vollmundig, wärmender Alkohol. Im Abgang solide krautige und zitronige Hopfenbittere. - Fette, bockbierähnliche Malzschwere trifft auf belgische parfümierte Süße, endet aber stärker hopfenherb als erwartet. Durchaus trinkbar aber nicht restlos überzeugend. (19.12.2023.)

Bottled. Yellow colour, mediumsized foamy white head. Aroma is floral, some sweet fruits and mild alcohol to it. Flavour is alcohol, fruits, some citrus and mild yeasty tones. A bit thin and letting alcohol through a bit too much.
