Big Bear is a classic Pale Ale-style beer. It’s very English... a beer like beers used to be, made traditionally.

Bottiglia.

August 2016: 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6%. Hazy orange colour, pours very fizzy with a large off-white head. Aroma of plastic / rubber / glue / bandaid, overshadows more fruity hints of apricots. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is medium dry and woody, also some moderate fruity notes, bitter finish. Not very well balanced, and not a great beer. Won’t buy again.

0.33 l bottle thanks to Ogi who brought it from Italy. Unclear golden, small off-white head. Aroma is cardboard and peach candy perfume. Grainy aroma. Flavour is sweet corny, perfumy. Vegetables. Light body, bland, moderate carbonation. Unpleasant ripe fruit, earthy astringent finish.

0.33l bottle, thx Ogi! Shared with Hrabren and him. Murky brownish-orange body, off-white head. Sweetish, dusty, honeyish aroma, stale flowery notes, herbal touches. Lean, sweet, soft taste, with big meaty yeastiness, ending dry. Frank, the vegetarian bear must be pissed off at people drinking this particular beer, I see no other option.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Oct 22. Golden amber pour, small white head. Old school English pale ale, with sweet caramel coming through nicely and a moderate bitter finish. Fine.

24th October 2022, mini gathering at Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury; just three of us sharing beers and talking bollox. Taken by me, 33cl bottle; BBE June 2023. Mini haze to the golden/amber body, weak white head. Malty front to the aroma and taste, some caramel sweetness within the brew.
