Pretty weird Black IPA, potentially old or off. 22oz bomber. Burnt oily caramel aroma, not pleasant. Black brown body, beige head. This is pretty bad, sweet and sugary, with some odd pungent undertones. Comes off like an old Milk Stout with too much specialty malts. Pretty good....for a Caribbean Stout. Weak, poorly made Black IPA.

Bottle. Black beer with a dark cream head. Roast and grapefruit aroma with light chocolate. Grapefruit and light pine flavor with light roast. Medium bodied. Roast and grapefruit lingers with light pine.

22oz bomber pours with a deep mahogany colored body the supports a nice looking mocha head. The aroma offers up inviting notes of chocolate bar, dark roasted malts and the some earthy spicy onion like hops. The taste has fairly firm dark roasted malts to thin ribbons of burnt malts flowing into both milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Behind the roasty malts lurks a pleasing degree of hoppiness such as dank spicy onion and grapefruit where the bitterness rises into some resiny notes toward the finish. Solid brew.

Bottle as shown. Pours a dark brown and ruby hue with small creamy beige head that lasts awhile. The aroma is coffee and roast. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet roast and chocolate with light bitter finish. A good black IPA from Left Coast.

Bottle @ home. Dark brown appearance with a big brown head. Charred, roasty dark chocolate malty, light citrusy, piney hoppy aroma. Burnt chocolate malty, slightly acidic coffee, lightly fruity, charred piney flavor. Fairly typical black ipa and not all that interesting.

On tap. Pours with a black body and a tan head that lasts. Aromas are fruity, mild esters, citrus, light tropical fruit hop character, dry roast, coffee, mild bready malt. Flavors show a big dry coffee presence, balancing citrusy hops, grapefruit and pine. Nicely dry and seems mostly devoid of caramel malt (a good thing). Tangerine zest. Medium bubbles, dry with a lasting bitterness. Medium bodied.

22oz bottle-pours a light brown head and black color. Aroma is resin, some dark malt. Taste is resin hops with some bite, dark malt-roasty/ashy. Drying that finishes unpleasantly.
