Clear amber pour - nose of caramel, vanilla and strong toasted oak - smooth, creamy body - loads of coconut, vanilla and toasted oak in the flavor - light tartness and semi-Biscuity malt - nothing entirely stand out, but the oak has been utilized well - it has covered up the base beer, but the overall flavor is still subtle and smooth - nice.

Tap @ brewery. I put this in as a brown ale but as with many of their styles, it doesn’t fit very well. They call it an old brown ale on oak. Fairly cloudy, orange/brown appearance with an ivory head, kind of like their roggenbier if I remember correctly. Pretty interesting nose. A lighter oak smell that is more vanilla than the charred woody character. Besides the fairly powerful oak, theres toffee, caramel, light cocoa, mild banana-like phenols. A little light bodied. Vanilla, some fruitiness, banana, light toffee, caramel flavor. Vanilla, fruit, oak on the aftertaste. Interesting brew but the oak flavoring is a little weird.
