Bottle 0,25ltr: A lot of sweetness in the sweetened dark red Kriek. Not sour as mend to be.

Deep dark red color, reddish pink head. Strong almondy cherry aroma. Syrupy sweet flavor, with a fair deal of sourness to compensate a bit. Loads of cherries and some almond. Not overly artificial. Maybe a bit sharp. Quite reasonable cherry beer.

Fles thuis geprobeerd. Het heeft een fel rode kleur met weinig schuim. De geur is chemisch zoet, kersen, snoepachtig. De smaak is kunstmatig kersen.

The kriek in this series, made from 2003 till Riva went bankrupt and fortunately not restored by Moortgat so far; very sweet, syrupy kriek, tasting and smelling of not much else but overtly sweet cherry extracts. I am glad the trend of light, witbier-based, onedimensionally sweet fruit beers seems to have passed a bit now.

This beer pours a hazy reddish-brown color with a medium foamy off-white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of cherries and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of tart cherry, malt and roasted nuts. The finish is mildly tart with a short cherry aftertaste. Average overall.

On tap at BCTC. ruby red appearance. No head lacing. Smells like a cranberry and a cherry and grape sort of mixed together. Taste is incredibly sweet. Hints of oak and loads of sugar. Overly sweet. Some apples on the finish.
