And into the gargantuan void, our lust shall perish. The final batch of the season is here. Our infamous breakfast stout is made from a blend of nine barley malts, a healthy scoop of oats, milk and molasses sugars, and our favorite blend of freshly roasted Counter Culture Coffee beans. Welcome the day with rich cocoa, smooth caramel, dark fruits and an abundance of diverse coffee aroma.

12 oz can. Aroma has a green coffee bean character. Green peppers, old chocolate. The flavor had acidic coffee bean that shows green pepper. The body is creamy and smooth but the green pepper / vegetable coffee bean ruins the whole experience. I got through about 2 ounces and was done. Something went wrong here.

Tasty stout, but not quite the life-changing pint the shelf talkers at the beer store suggest. Surprisingly thin in texture, pouring out a dark, dark brown, not quite black, with a thin head and slight lacing. Milk chocolate and coffee on the nose. Taste is nice, chocolate and coffee with a distinct fried batter sweetness that comes through late in the fade. Sugar glaze notes on the back end, while slight fig and toasted caramel run deep underneath. Yet it never reaches the indulgence you want in an 8% stout. Still, I totally get the "donut" element. Just not blown away by it. Better than I’ve scored it, but the thin texture’s a big issue.

At Burial tap takeover in Beerlovers Bar, Antwerp. Moussy, medium thick, pale greyish beige head, blackish robe with warm burgundy hue. Aroma of coffee grounds, walnut shells, burnt wood, mocha ice cream, dry cake, black pepper, espresso, dried fig, liquorish, dates. Sweetish, candied fig-like onset, a tad sticky at first even, with a dried beef stock-like umami touch and a sourish undertone, slick and oily mouthfeel. Hard caramel-like and nutty malt core, a tad sourish on the edges and softly toasted bittering towards the end, accent of green beans, peppery hop bitterness, drying. Kicks of sweet and ends dry and softly bitter - a good balance of flavours, but I am left wondering how exactly this should remind me of donuts...

Tap at beerlovers bar tap takeover. Pours very dark brown, clear. Smell is mostly coffee, mild roastyness. Taste is full, bit sharp, some coffee but not too much. Bit sweetness. Mild dryness. Bit doughy. 3.6 Re-rate , tasted blindly . The beer was reallyouta balance, and only gave it a 2.2 on this occasion. Not sure if the big gaap in scores is my own taste changeing / incorrect, the difference can VS tap, or the age of the beer.

Really flat… Lacks the fullness I would expect from a stout like this.

Can, by way of trade with Leighton. Cheers! 8%. Clear, very dark brown. Thin, dense, creamy, lasting, leggy, pale tan head. Handsome beer. Nose has spent coffee grinds. Soft smoke. Some cocoa. Some wet, charred wood. Taste is sugary coffee sweet. Some woody dryness. Plenty of coffee grind bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium body. Fine carbonation. Long, coffee bitterness on the finish, with a sugary sweetness remaining throughout.

Can from Milk and Hops, Chelsea. Pours a dark brown, sheeting light brown head and lots of spotty lacing. Roasted coffee, chocolate, and done burnt malts. The flavor comes across as roasty and burnt up front, the chocolatey sweetness really comes out in the finish. Creates a nice, balanced flavor earlier that finishes clean, sweet, and a little sticky. Smooth and creamy. Soft carbonation. Really quite good.
