The St. Paul Speciale is an amber coloured, high-fermented abbey beer of Brouwerij Sterkens. This beer was brewed according to the so-called purity law of 1516. Thanks to the dryhopping technique, which adds hops after the fermentation, it has a sweet, fruity aroma with notes of caramel and malt. The Speciale has a rich, sweet and slightly bitter taste.

Bottled. Copperish red colour (a bit more red than copper). Big beige foamy head. Bitter citric malty flavour. Bitter cranberryish flavour, but still very refreshing. Also some hints of yeast. Mouthdrying and bitter finish.

Treble brown colour, white head. It has quite the same aroma as the other St.Paul-beers: little bit creamy and sweet. The flavour however is -in contrast of my expectations, much beter as ht others. OK, it's still a little bit 'watery', but it has some bitter (and sweet flavours, also wheat-flavours). It reminds me in some kind of way of Westmalle tripel. It is really a special St.Paul.

Hazy golden - light amber color; generous head, beautiful lace. Very nice hop aroma, herbal, deep. Good hop character, not enough body to support it.
A kind of IPA, with dryer body; actually the most interesting of the St.Paul's, but all of them miss some stronger body.
