Bottle. Golden color, hazy. Bready aroma with a hint of citrus. Floral, citric notes in the malty bready flavor. Alcohol well hidden behind the bready flavors. Not too sweet. A pleasant surprise.

Tripel commissioned by a rugby club called the Pittbulls, hence the name; had this many years ago already and stumbled upon it again recently in a drinks store in Balen. Dense, lacing, coarse, yellowish white head, light hazy golden blonde colour with strong fizz, misty with sediment. Aroma of ripe banana, bubblegum, strong cloves, cooked apple, gin, iron, sweetbead, rainwater and indeed a hint of whisky, though far less of the promised smokiness. Sweet onset, white candi sugar, banana ester, bubblegum, honeyish and slightly bready malt sweetness, soft maltiness coarsened by very sharply stinging carbonation; finishing in earthy, deep hop bitterishness, clove and even plastic-like solvents (4-vinyl-guaiacol), a touch of the smoky whisky effect indeed and, more than anything, a lot of warming, even wry, ’jenever’-like alcohol. Too ’bubblegummy’, boozily alcoholic and phenolic to be memorable, with just not enough of the smoked whisky malt. This ingredient has to be increased significantly - only then will this beer be in line with its intentionally 'agressive' image.

Troebel donkergeel; bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is hoppig bitter en krachtig, licht zoet met iets van banaan en abrikoos, tevens iets van rook. Vreemde combinatie maar niet onaardig.
