This non-traditional English bitter is light-bodied with a low ABV and rich malt character.

Brewed with lots of Golden Promise and Pale Ale malts with a touch of Oats and light hazy gold in color. Ultra crisp bitterness from Warrior hops, with Glacier hops adding the peach, orange and apricot aroma. We dry-hopped this one because...we like hops.

I got this can in a trade with Lofgrep. Thanks Peter!

Another adventure into Surly-land.

It pours from the 16oz can(it says 4%abv) into my New Belgium Imperial Pint glass a hazy orange gold. There's about a 1" head of foam(which doesn't last very long) and there's some good lacing.

The smell is very fruity. I get a lot of citrus but there's also a sweet fruity nose there as well. It's nice.

The taste hits me with some caramel malt sweetness balanced by a good, but not over the top, hoppiness....definitely mostly pine but also some citrus with the grapefruit.

The sweet fruit aspect that I mentioned in the nose is more subdued in the taste, darn it, but for a low abv brew, it *is* power packed with flavour and is *very* easy drinking. If I had something like this on tap at a local bar, I could easily session on it all night! No kidding.

It's close enough to medium bodied that I'd call it medium bodied, carbonation is on the very light side of medium, and it finishes piney and very dry. Sometimes dry doesn't work for me but in this case, it's right up my alley. ;^)

Bottom line: I really like this "English Bitter" though purists would probably say it's too bitter. I agree, basically, but it in no way impedes me from enjoying this brew. This is yet another winner from Surly!

16 oz can poured. Pours a bright cloudy yellow color with a fizzy head. Tropical fruit, and hop heavy forward aroma. Pretty light in overall flavor content, but extremely refreshing. Subtle orange and peach flavor, and finishes on a bitter hop note. Very nice, unique beer to try. Good stuff.

47,3 cl can @ some park, Amsterdam. Rated on 15.07.2014
Aroma has apricot, hay, fruity hops and hints of toffee. Flavour has hops, toffee, minerals and some fruits (apricot). Quite British for an American beer. Solid and rich Bitter to be only 4%. Somewhat uninspiring though.

16 oz. can from De Bierkoning @ home. Clear amber color. Uneven off white head with reasonable retention. Aroma’s: at first strong resin, fresh flowery hops, later some fruit (mandarin?) and caramel malts. Fruity hops retronasal, somewhat resinous and bitter. Flavor is light bitter, light fruity. Body is rather thin. Finish seems rather tasteless, but eventually some bitterness and resin appear. OK, the strength of this beer is in the aroma rather than the flavor.

From notes, consumed on 6/4/13. Can (dated 5/7/13) poured into a tulip. Pours a copper/golden honey brown with 2 and a half fingers of off-white head. Great lacing. Aromas of caramel, toffee, floral notes, grapefruit citrus, light honey. Tasting notes of wheat bread, floral notes, grapefruit citrus, light caramel and toffee. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

Can, canned 05/23/13. Oh oh. Clear orange with a small white head that dissipates quickly with minimal lacing. Aroma is stale caramel, pine. Flavor is better than that, but still odd. Light sweet, almost a bit of lemon tart, light bitter. Need to finds a fresh one.
