(Previously labeled Blueberry Lambic). Blueberry is barrel-aged sour ale that combines the traditional Belgian-style sour with blueberries sourced from Michigan and Canada. We ferment our base blonde ale, Basis, over six to eight months in oak tanks to produce tart flavors, fruity notes, and a funky character. Then, we select a blend of individual batches for fruiting with whole blueberries for an additional three months, creating an intense blueberry fruit character with floral and dark fruit aromas. The final blend is bottle conditioned, resulting in a fine carbonation and spritzy mouthfeel. Blueberry is the perfect drink to share with
friends over a plate of good cheese and fresh fruit.
In the spring of 2006, I brewed 300 gallons of top-fermented beer using wild yeast to create a Belgian-style Lambic. We conditioned the beer in oak casks and then initiated a secondary fermentation in the casks using whole fruit from Huber's Orchard in Starlight, Indiana. You should experience a tart, almost sour taste balanced by the aromatic and richly flavorful addition of whole blueberries - perfect to share with friends, and a platter of good cheese and fresh fruit. - Caleb Staton, Head Brewer

Pours garnet....thin pink/purple head. Tart, vinegary berry aroma. Puckeringly tart berry, woody/sour. Not really a blueberry specific flavour....more of a sour raspberry. Still, very well done.

Bottle courtesy of shrubber85, thank you sir! Shared at iphonephan tasting. Royal purple color, murky probably because I didn’t give it long enough to settle after receiving it in the mail, small pink edge head. Aroma is blueberry, lemon, acetic acid. Taste is fruity, but a bit too acetic for my taste.

2014 Bottle. Tart fruity, funky lactic, and light oaky aroma. Deep plum with a small, quickly dissipating lavender head. Sour blueberry, funky lactic, and light oak/vanilla flavor. Light body, lively carbonation. Very nice!

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell in London - many thanks to Paul. Pours hazy, bloody purple with a fine, off-white cap. Pleasant aroma of dried blueberries, lightly tangy in the nose. Light-medium sweet flavor with sturdy berry tang, some semi-ripe blueberries, light acetic bite, sweat. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Good sour berry finish with nice and fleshy blueberries, mild brett funk, a bit of alcohol warmth. Good one.

Bottle shared by me (not Kenny!) at CBC Clerkenwell. It pours hazy purple-red with a small off-white head. The nose is earth, candy, blueberry, cherry tunes, must and dankness. The taste is earth, light tartenss, lactic, wood, earth, mild acidity, cherry candy, berry, green apple, alka seltzer, soda water and sherbet with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Kind of grows on you. Drinkable sour for sure, but no great depth.

Bottle tasting at Craft Clerkenwell. Hazy red beer with a distinct mauve tint. Little pink head. Dry palate with mild fine carbonation. Mild sour fruits, little blueberry with lesser raspberry and generic red fruits. Sour factor is mild to medium. Finishes dry. Nice flavour but pretty dry.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy dark purple-ish amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out loads of blueberries and fairly prominent barnyard funkiness. Flavour brings out quite a bit of barnyard funkiness, with loads of lightly tart blueberries. Not overly sour / tart, with a prominent barnyard quality. I'd say this could pass for an authentic Belgian fruit lambic. Certainly one of (if not the) best American lambic. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep purple with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of nice slightly tart blueberry with underlying funky note. Flavor has tart blueberry note up front with more of a blueberry pie note toward the finish that was slightly thin.
