Wiener Original
Ottakringer in Vienna, Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹
Lager - Amber / Vienna Regular|

This creation from our brewmaster is based on a 100-year-old recipe of Ottakringer and for sure will make hearts of beer lovers beat faster. This historic beer composition made from Viennese malt, melanoidin malt and the finest Saaz hops captivates with its striking, amber reflections. The Wiener Original has a fine nutty note, and a flavour that transcends into an elegant malt aroma. The Wiener Original leaves a distinct yet gently bitter after-taste.

A Vienna lager from Vienna. I guess this is the real deal. 1 pint can from The Mansion. Pours a clear deep gold color with a khaki head and excellent retention. Great lacing too. Malty aroma. Malty lager flavor to match the nose and a bready finish. A little Euro lager flavor and not as sweet or caramelly as I expected. Slightly crisp mouthfeel. Clean and smooth. No bitterness. A very good Euro lager.

Klar bernsteinfarben mit weißer Schaumkrone. Malziger, leicht hopfiger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, leicht brotig, leicht hopfig. Mittlere Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit sanfter Kohlensäure.

0,5 can.
Nice color reminiscent of lighter Czech half-browns, meaning I’d rather fit into the category. Foam solid, white, nice big, decomposes moderately fast. Cultured lager aroma, delicately malt, caramel, and even hop spiciness come to mind. So far so good. It opens sweetly, very maltously, and looks surprisingly full-bodied. Compared to heavy-duty beer anyway. The foam remained almost all the way. It looks like a great drinking beer, a real value champion.
***
A hab egyébként szinte végig megmaradt. Remek ivósörnek tűnik, igazi ár-érték bajnoknak.

0.5L can at Grunauer in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a slightly hazed golden yellow with a foamy one inch white head. The aroma is nutty malt and a nice grassy herbal. The taste is the herbal grass, then clean nutty softly sweet malt. The palate is medium bodied with soft natural carbonation and the herbal malt finish. Very nice Vienna.

Edit 11/2022. Malty, bready and floral aroma. Clear amber body; persistent off-white head. Malty, toasty, light floral and spicy bitterness, slightly sweeter finish. Very good vienna lager. 0,5 l, can, supermarket, Vienna. # 2139; 7/2020. Malty, bready, herbal aroma. Brilliant amber body with thin off-white head. Malty, bready, floral. Good, but nothing special. 0,3 l, green bottle, Vienna airport (A). 6-3-6-2-10=*2,7

Pour is a clear carmel body with a large white head. Aroma is bready caramel malt. Maybe some toasted nuts as well. Flavor is toasted nuts and a decent dry bready feel to this. A little thin and watery but super chuggable.
