Dark cloudy orange color.
good beige head with decent lacing. aroma is orange, cherries, and yeast, with an almost flemish sour aroma also, not surprising comming from Leifmans. Flavour yeast, and citrus, with a subtle sour/tartness to it. wow, this isnt half bad, i was expecting the worst after seeing the ratings. this is a nice belgian ale. Carbonation is a little over the top but the flavours are all there. I specialy like the subtle sourness.

Aroma and flavor of seasalt, malt and soap. Just a bit of banana. Full bodied beer. My description doesn''t do the beer justice. Jan van Gent is just an a-typical beer with a fine taste.

27/XII/15 - 37.5cl bottle @ Huyze Vacas (Waterland-Oudeman) - BB: n/a, 2007 vintage (2015-1815)

Clear amber beer, small creamy irregular off-white head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: caramel, malty, orange peel, pretty oxidized, bit spicy. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty oxidized, sweet, lots and lots of caramel, spicy, some cinnamon even. Aftertaste: malty, caramel, floral touch, honey, bit sweet, oxidized. Overall this beer has aged pretty well, still very drinkable, a pleasure!

Session beer made by Liefmans since 1995 but discontinued when owner Riva went bankrupt in 2007. Off-white head, amber colour, misty. Bit dull aroma, malty, bready, some dried fruits, yeasty. Taste light malty, rather neutral with subdued sweetishness, restrained fruitiness, yeasty, hint of orange peel, mild herbal finish. Bland and dull, never cared for it much and I wouldn’t mind if Moortgat never revives this now that they have taken over the Liefmans brand.
