Racer X® is an uncommon Double India Pale Ale which puts a California twist on English brewing traditions by adding an assertive hop aroma and bitterness that compliments the firm malt backbone. Like its little brother Racer 5, Racer X® is balance in a bottle.

Draft. Dark amber with very little head. Grapefruit aroma and flavor with some smooth malt backing. Some tannins and grassiness present that may just be this batch, but it takes something away and means it’s nice, but could be better. One of my lower rated IIPA’s

I think I have officially had one too many imperial IPAs, because they now cease to excite or wow me - "yup, that's an imperial IPA," I say when I taste it, "sigh" - hoppy, moderately sweet and quite buttery, just like pretty much every other IIPA I've ever had - not as balanced as some of the greats, like T Floyds or 90 Minute, but quite thick and tasty none-the-less - I won't lower its rating just because I'm bored with the style, but man, am I the only person who feels this way?
