A dark hoppy beer without a traditional dark hoppy beer taste. Light roasted, chocolate malt transitions into a smooth finish with a hint of tangerine.

Can from AlesByMail.co.uk. Very dark brown to black body, with a small, creamy, tanish head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, berries, only subtle roasted malt notes. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, citrus, pine, resin, dried fruits. Mouthfeel is medium, oily, with a light carbonation and it finishes bitter and roasty, with citrus, pine, resin and coffee. Nice! A Black IPA where the hops are more present than in others. Maybe a bit light bodied, but with a great drinkability instead.

Can consumed at Truck Festival, Steventon, Oxon, Saturday 19th July 2014 Pours black with filmy, creamy bubbles. Soft in mouth, hoppiness starts to pulse through, bitter but good sweetness, roasty. Its good, softer than I thought, nice carbonation, but a few hoppy burps. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.6

355ml can from Ales by Mail

Pours pitch black with a thick head. Aroma of roasty malts, chocolate, metallic notes and licorice. Taste is roasty, sweetish and bitter with hints of grass and chocolate. Finish is lingering bitter, roasty and grassy with some licorice and malty notes. Quite roasty for a black IPA, and not that fruity hoppy.

Opaque black - brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and airy with good fine carbonation. Very mild dark malts, a little cream and a whisper of dark chocolate. Smooth piney hops with a trace of orange citrus. Smooth finish. Nothing shouty about this, it’s just a fine smooth cda.
